Evaluations

We offer a comprehensive evaluation of your child’s communication skills, including speech, language, and early literacy skills. This assessment is used for:

  • Identifying your child’s strengths, and challenges in speech, language, and literacy

  • Defining your child’s unique learning style

  • Understanding your family’s concerns, values, and priorities

  • Establishing goals for therapy

Our evaluations may include standardized assessments, which describe how your child’s skills compare to their same-age peers, and non-standardized assessments, which describe how your child is currently functioning. We also gather important background information from you about your child. Altogether, this information creates a holistic, up-to-date picture of your child and serves as the foundation for therapy.

Our Approach to Therapy

Based on your child’s personal interests, strengths, and individual learning style, we design a therapy program that is:

  • Multi-sensory: it engages multiple senses (e.g., sight, sound, touch) to enhance learning

  • Evidence-based

  • Creative, fun, and motivating

  • Focused on growth, change, and adaptability

Children need lots of practice and encouragement to learn new skills, so we embed it into therapy activities that your child will truly enjoy. We celebrate every little success, as those lead to big achievements. And because we want your child to use their new skills beyond therapy, we give parents fun and easy activities to do at home and in the community. Through it all, your child will develop a growth mindset: “Learning new things is fun! If I keep trying, I can do amazing things!”

Speech Therapy

Some children have difficulty producing speech that others can understand. This can be frustrating to a child and may cause them to avoid speaking. Using multi-sensory activities and evidence-based programs, like Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC)™ and the Kaufman Speech To Language Protocol (K-SLP)™, Jayna helps your child:

  • produce speech sounds correctly

  • increase the number of sounds in their repertoire

  • speak more smoothly and clearly

  • be understood by others

Improved speech clarity helps your child interact more confidently with peers and adults, and helps them thrive in the classroom and beyond!

Early Intervention & Parent Coaching

Babies and toddlers begin to communicate in many different ways: eye contact, reaching, pointing, sharing, signs, and words. Sometimes young children need extra support with language, or parents simply want to help their child communicate with others sooner. Through evidence-based education and coaching, you learn how to:

  • engage your child in back-and-forth conversations, even before first words are spoken

  • turn everyday activities into opportunities to learn language

  • talk with your child so they can learn new words and ideas

No matter which stage of communication your child is in, you will be empowered with the latest knowledge and strategies on how to help them communicate what is in their mind, leading to less frustration and more joy!

Language Therapy

Language is used for many reasons, such as asking for help, answering questions, sharing information, following directions, and talking with friends. But for some children, language does not develop easily and they need direct support to develop these skills. Using evidence-based programs, such as Lindamood-Bell™, Jayna helps your child:

  • make requests or ask for help

  • communicate their thoughts

  • improve social communication skills

  • engage in age-appropriate conversation with their peers and adults

Improved language skills equip your child to interact with peers and adults, allowing them to communicate their needs and thoughts, which promotes success in school and beyond!
