On-Site Preschool Services
Literacy opens up a world of opportunity for children. And surprisingly, it begins to develop long before a child ever sets foot in a kindergarten classroom. Although children develop essential language skills during the toddler years, preschool is the most critical period for language and social-emotional development, as these skills form the foundation for literacy and future academic success.
Studies show that language and vocabulary skills during the preschool years strongly predict reading comprehension skills in second grade. It is imperative, then, that we explicitly teach young children language and pre-literacy skills, ensuring they have solid competencies before they enter kindergarten. Let Dragonfly lead the way to stronger language, literacy, and social-emotional skills for your preschoolers!

Why Preschool Speech, Language, and Literacy Instruction is Essential
As the mother of a child who received preschool speech therapy, and as a speech-language pathologist whose career is dedicated to helping children communicate and become skilled readers, Jayna knows how important it is to support the speech, language, and literacy development of preschoolers.
“The preschool years are a critical time for cognitive development, as the brain is malleable and new neural pathways are being formed,” she says. “That’s why it is so important to explicitly teach language and literacy skills during this time, knowing that early language abilities are a strong predictor of academic success.”
“Language is the bedrock for literacy,” Jayna continues. “Without solid oral language skills, reading, writing, and spelling can be quite difficult for children.”
Since each young learner is unique, instruction should be multisensory, ensuring that every child is engaged and actively participating in whatever way helps them learn best. Dragonfly’s approach to preschool therapy includes evidence-based, multimodal approaches like Orton-Gillingham (IMSE), Lindamood-Bell LiPS® and Talkies® programs, Social Thinking® methodology, and The Zones of Regulation®.
“Early intervention can prevent the need for years of therapy and help kids develop healthy attitudes toward communicating and reading,” Jayna says. “I am committed to helping preschoolers build a solid foundation of language and literacy skills for a lifetime of joyful learning!”
